PRODUCT CARE

caring for your NOA product.

why product care matters.

Nothing beats opening a fresh new candle or home fragrance treat, but did you know many home fragrance products require a little bit of care to ensure you get the most from it? We've created this handy care guide to ensure you know what's best for your latest NOA purchase.

PRODUCT CARE

Candle care

THE FIRST BURN

The first burn of your candle is the most important to ensure best results. Candles have layers called ‘memory rings’ which in short remember how far you have burned on the first burn and will not pass that point on future burns. You must allow adequate time on the first burn for the wax to melt to the edge of the vessel which prevents tunnelling from occurring.

Our recommended burn times for our candles for an edge to edge burn are:

180ml Candles: Between 1 and 2 hours. We recommend an initial burn time of 2.5 hours.

These recommended burn times are from our tests and may differ slightly when in your home as many factors impact the speed of a burning candle. If your space is cold or your candle is kept in a drafty area you may find it takes a little longer to reach a full melt pool. If your candle is struggling move to a warmer area away from drafts. As always do not exceed a burn time of 4 hours.

DON'T BURN TOO LOW

We always recommend customers leave between 1.5 and 2cm of wax at the base of the jar for safety purposes and to prevent overheating. All of our wicks contain metal safety cut offs as standard too.

CANDLE CARE TOOLS

If you can, invest in some handy wick trimmers and candle accessories. These make candle care even more easy and make a great display piece. To discover our candle accessories take a look in the shop.

GENERAL SAFETY

Do not burn for longer than 4 hours. Trim your wick to approx 3mm before each use and remove any debris from the wax pool. Never leave unattended, on an unbalanced surface or close to flammable objects and most importantly keep out of reach from children and pets.

GOOD HABITS TO HAVE

there is never a better time to get some good habits, especially when it comes to your candle. Before each burn trim the wick to around 3mm, remove any debris from the wax pool and discard any soot molecules that have formed on the wick. This ensures that your candle will burn perfectly and release fragrance fully into your space without burning too hot. Failing to trim your wicks can result in the jar overheating and in severe cases could cause a fire but by practicing proper candle care before each burn you should never have any issues.

SIGNS TO TRIM

Every now and again you may need to trim the wick when in use. If you notice any of these signs extinguish the candle, allow it to cool and trim as usual then re-light.

- Your wick is curling when burning.

- Your wick is forming ‘soot gremlins’ or the wick is smoking.

- The flame is growing too high and flickering excessively.

Reed / Car Diffusers

FLIP OR TIP

for diffusers to properly diffuse fragrance into your space, whether that be in a car or at home the reeds (home diffusers) or absorbent wood cap (car diffusers) need to be soaked in the liquid and tipped/flipped.

Reed Diffusers - Flip reeds every 1-2 weeks, when the reeds are dry or whenever you want a boost of scent in the space.

Car Diffusers - Tip the car diffuser upside down for 3-5 seconds each week or whenever you want a boost of scent in the vehicle.

As always with diffuser liquid keep away from shiny, varnished areas, plastics and upholstery to avoid staining. If spilled wipe immediately to avoid damage and wash hands after handling.

WATCH OUT FOR SPILLS

With many reed diffusers and car diffusers you must be careful when spills occur as the liquid diffusers are made from can damage furniture and upholstery if left. Be sure to place on an even surface and clean up any spills as soon as they happen to prevent any lasting damage!

BEST SPOT IN THE HOUSE

When it comes to our home diffusers we always recommend displaying them in a place you pass frequently, such as your hallway - rather than providing a constant scent diffusers tend to produce a more gradual scent throw which is noticeable as you walk past the products or into a room.

FLAME FREE FRAGRANCE

One thing we love most about our reed diffusers is the fact they are flame free, easy to look after and low maintenance. All you need to do is flip the reeds every once in a while to help diffuse the fragrance into your home.
