something we value hugely at noa is ensuring that our products are free from a whole variety of things, whether they impact your health directly or the environment around us, these are things we value more than anything in our brand and will always follow alongside our core four values.
+ paraben, phthalate and toxin free
found in a whole bunch of products ranging from candles, nail polish, hairspray and even certain foods - these are known to cause respiratory issues, hormone disruptors and can even alter the metabolic function in the body. in other words - they are not good, at all! which is why we only use paraben and phthalate free fragrances and materials.
we also use absolutely no artificial or synthetic fragrance boosters or enhancers - these particularly when burnt can release harmful chemicals into your space which can result in headaches, asthma attacks and prolonged exposure can result in cancer. The worst culprits for this being are the mass produced candles manufactured in china. synthetic fragrance boosters are put in place to create the strongest scent possible since many waxes which are not paraffin struggle to hold a high fragrance load (most max out at around 10-12%) - boosters are added which actually alter the molecular structure of the wax itself, resulting in a wax which can hold 20-30% fragrance rather than 10% - this is great and all, but the risks carried with using these synthetic boosters really is something we don’t think is worth it and 10-12% fragrance is plenty and creates a room filling fragrance easily!
+ plastic free
you’ll be pleased to know that all of our products besides our wax bars are now 100% plastic free (as of 2022!) as we transitioned over to metal candle lids in the spring. where possible we will always use the most eco friendly option available to us and hope in the future to be able to source some biodegradable clamshells for our wax bars!
something that is so important to us is being as eco friendly and eco conscious as possible too, which is why we plant a tree for every order that comes our way and only use FSC certified packaging and biodegradable void fill for our orders. our product packaging is also plastic free. one of our missions is to be entirely carbon neutral by 2024 and we are well on our way to achieving this!
+ vegan and cruelty-free
all of our products are and always will be vegan friendly and cruelty-free. we only work with suppliers who share the same values as us too. animal testing is an outdated and cruel, unnecessary practice and we believe that no animal should ever have to suffer for our products!
+ paraffin free
while many love working with paraffin we choose to work with sustainably sourced soy wax instead for a number of reasons - there have been studies which suggest that carcinogens are released when paraffin candles are burnt with the most dangerous of those being benzene and toluene which are linked to causing cancer and can also cause air quality issues in your home space. one thing we love so much about soy wax is the fact it is a clean burning and naturally biodegradable wax which produces little to no soot when burning - making it more sustainable for not just the environment but your air quality at home too.
